Business Logs, Splashpress Media’s blog for businesses trying to learn how to leverage blogging and social media to grow their brands, businesses and bottom-lines, has a new author! Today, Susan Gunelius joins the Splashpress Media team as the voice of Business Logs.
From Susan Gunelius:
I’m very excited to be a part of Splashpress Media, and I’m even more excited to help businesses learn how to create successful blogs and social media presences. I am a firm believer that the social Web presents the single largest opportunity for businesses to market and grow throughout the coming decade, and my objective in writing for Business Logs is to share my knowledge and build an active online community where business people can learn not just the value of blogging and social media marketing but also the fundamental marketing and business theories that drive strategic decision-making related to those online activities and more.
Now, for a little info about me so you can see I do actually have some knowledge about business, marketing and social media:
I am a published author in the process of writing my seventh business nonfiction book. My books thus far include:
- Blogging All-in-One for Dummies
- Google Blogger for Dummies
- 30-Minute Social Media Marketing
- Kick-ass Copywriting in 10 Easy Steps
- Building Brand Value the Playboy Way
- Harry Potter: The Story of a Global Business Phenomenon
- The Complete Idiot’s Guide to WordPress (coming in 2011)

After spending a decade directing marketing programs for some of the largest companies in the world, I left Corporate America with no regrets and planned to take several years off to care for my newborn triplets (yes, I said ‘triplets’) in 2004. A few years later, I had an idea to write a book to help small business owners craft compelling and effective marketing messages to ensure they receive adequate returns on their marketing investments. I turned to the social Web to build my platform as an expert in my field (marketing, branding and copywriting) in order to sell my book proposal to a literary agent and publisher.
It is now three years later, and I’m writing my seventh book. I am the Guide to Blogging for About.com (a New York Times company) and write blogs and online content for a diverse list of clients. I am a featured columnist for Entrepreneur.com and a featured blogger for Forbes.com, and my marketing-related articles have appeared on Web sites such as MSNBC.com, WashingtonPost.com, FoxBusiness.com, BusinessWeek.com, TheStreet.com, SmartMoney.com, TodayShow.com, and more.
I also launched my own company in 2008, KeySplash Creative, Inc. — a full-service marketing communications provider also offering branding and social media consulting services. Additionally, I am often hired to share my knowledge at various speaking engagements, and I own one of the leading blogs for women working in the field of business, Women on Business.
Suffice it to say, I am busier than ever, and I owe a great deal of my success to blogging and the social Web. I am a firm believer that blogging and social media participation can help any business grow and thrive. In fact, I believe that companies that don’t effectively embrace social media will feel the negative repercussions of their absence on the social Web sooner rather than later.
Now, for what you can expect from Business Logs going forward:
The new Business Logs will offer a variety of information, tips, suggestions, case studies, conversations, and more to help you understand why blogging and social media marketing are essential tools in your marketing arsenal. You’ll read about topics as diverse as branding, positioning, targeting, research, differentiation, messaging, legal concerns, and more — as they relate to your blogging and social media initiatives. In other words, Business Logs is being repositioned as the go-to site for all the information you need to leverage blogging and the social Web to build your brand, business and bottom-line.
So pull up a chair and join the conversation!
