I’m completely sick of “web 2.0” applications/companies/websites not working in Safari. I’m even *more* sick of people who say that users critiquing a web application’s inability to work in Safari are lame or don’t know what they’re talking about. This rant was brought on by comments on TechCrunch about the new version of Writely tools. I left a comment that basically said, “it’s lame that Writely is introducing new features when the basics of their application still don’t work on Safari” and then I got flamed.

Roger Simon, in his excruciatingly finite wisdom, decides to change Open Source Media back to Pajamas Media due to the fact he and his entire company committed faux pas after faux pas after they launched. Good thing they paid a pretty penny for the three-character domain name and branding which is now all out the window and dead on the sidewalk.

Open Source Media CEO Screwed Business Partner?
To be honest with all of you, I have never, ever seen a business go from launch to meltdown as quickly as Open Source Media appears to be. Since they launched, I have only seen ONE positive analysis of their business and that came from seattlepi.com where it was simply reporting the company’s launch news in an unbiased manner. Besides that, everything else I’ve read (that wasn’t written by an OSMer) has been negative and this next link takes the damn cake.

Open Source Media Launches To Negative Press
Pajamas Media finally took the sheet off their new name this week and became Open Source Media, which they describe as “a new blogging venture designed to bring together the internet’s brightest minds and most compelling content into a single source that will, in turn, complement and re-define journalism in the 21st century.” Pretty lofty goals I’d say. The weblog world is buzzing with thoughts about this new venture, and unfortunately for the company’s founders and investors, it’s mostly negative.
