Global Stock Market Shaken by Britain’s Exit from EU

As Britain leaves the European Union, fear became the dominant sentiment that badly affected the global stock market. Apart from Europe, the markets in America and Asia also experienced a slump particularly as predictions of a U.K. recession circulated. Global stocks were said to be in their worst monthly performance since January.

In Europe, shares of U.K. and European banks are now underperforming. They have been and are still the worst performing sectors. The Deutsche Bank, for its part, has recorded another record low after failing in a U.S. stress test. [Read more…] about Global Stock Market Shaken by Britain’s Exit from EU

Brexit and Its Impact on the Property Market

With the United Kingdom finally out of the European Union (EU), the real estate industry is apprehensive about the Brexit effect on the property market. The signs were not good after the results came in as the pound dropped to its lowest level since 1985 and Prime Minister David Cameron resigned. Uncertainty is also being felt as varied sectors become apprehensive now that Britain would have to make new trade agreements with the rest of the world. What’s Next for Turkey’s Tourism Industry?

Just five months after the Istanbul suicide bombing incident that killed 10 people, Turkey once again succumbed to another terror attack last Wednesday. This time, the Ataturk airport in the capital city was the target with 42 people killed. No group has claimed responsibility for the bombing but authorities believe Isis is behind it.

In the aftermath of this recent bombing, Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan vowed that no terror attack will divide his country. He added the act is not Islamic as the attackers had no regard for faith or values. [Read more…] about What’s Next for Turkey’s Tourism Industry?

Where Spammers Live

Email spam. Whether sending us miracle cures, promises of improved sexual prowess, phishing for our usernames and passwords, or sending us malicious attachments, they arrive in our email inboxes every day. We like to think that they are losing their battle with more and more intelligent email client spam filters, but until they do, they’re a very real, very annoying, fact of modern-day communication.

We have, of course, wondered where all this spam originates from. With this new infographic, we wonder no more; we know for sure that most of the world’s spam comes from China.

In second place is South Korea, which apparently has just elbowed out the United States as the #2 Spam Senders in the world. They are also the source of most of Europe’s spam.

China and Korea are also major players in the ongoing tensions in Asia, with both countries involving Japan in territorial island disputes and the issue of Korean comfort women. In other words, both nations have much on their plate right now, including internal problems such as accusations of human rights violations in their own governments.

The infographic is short and sweet, but very clearly illustrates where all the spam is coming from.

Splashpress Media Acquires Freelance Writing Jobs

Monday brought big news for Splashpress Media when it was announced that Splashpress acquired Deb Ng’s highly popular blog network for freelance writers, Freelance Writing Jobs.

I’m happy to share the news that I’ll be taking over the helm at Freelance Writing Jobs as the managing editor.  I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to follow in Deb’s footsteps.  She has built an amazing community at Freelance Writing Jobs, many of whom I know well having worked with them and interacted with them over the years across the social Web.

I’m confident that Splashpress Media will keep the spirit of Freelance Writing Jobs going in the way the audience has grown to expect from the brand, but I’m equally excited to see how the community will evolve as part of the phenomenal Splashpress Media publishing network.

Freelance Writing Jobs has helped to launch many freelance writing businesses as the comments on Deb’s post announcing the sale to Splashpress Media clearly demonstrate.  I won’t be taking over Deb’s duties at the site until July 1st, but in the meantime, take a moment to visit Freelance Writing Jobs, and poke around to see what the site has to offer.  I’d imagine it will get a facelift when it moves into the Splashpress Media family, but the content and community will remain the same.
