Blinksale For Great Invoices

Friday, July 8th, 2005 by MR

When Josh let me have a sneak peek of his company Firewheel’s new invoice application Blinksale, I was really excited because I know the kind of work that his company puts out. IconBuffet? Yeah, that’s them, they do world-class design work.

A Solution To The Problem

Blinksale is simple in the fact that it lets you do one important thing, brilliantly. You no longer have to generate Blinksale Logo clumsy invoices that look like garbage and then wrangle with email programs in order to send them out, Blinksale does it all for you. It keeps track of all invoices sent, received, and the ones you have to keep track of because they are continually not paid on time.

To be honest, I really don’t care about those features. What I care about is that I can now use CSS to format my invoices and use the images, colors, and typography that I would normally format in PDF. I can turn magic tricks with CSS, and now Blinksale lets me use my expertise to create amazing invoices with all the style of a normal webpage. And if you’re not a CSS expert, there are tons of pre-designed templates you can use and still look like a invoice-styling genius.

Thanks For The Memories

Not only does it send out great invoices, but it sends out CSS-formatted thank you messages as well! You now have full control over the design of all your client-facing billing emails and invoices, it’s amazing. I can’t think of a better way to impress clients than a professionally-designed invoice. It’s just like a waiter being extra nice to you when he sets the check down on your table — it’s that final impression which really leaves the mark.

It’s Usable, So Use It

If you’re at all familiar with Basecamp, then using Blinksale will be a no-brainer. Never heard of Basecamp? Doesn’t matter, Blinksale’s interface is so easy to work with that you’ll be shooting out invoices in no time. Big, chunky, bright, easy to use: the application looks fantastic.

Blinksale will be launching soon, but jump over to the site and signup to get email updates about the progress.

I can’t wait to have a look at Blinksale. I’m currently using a very clunky Filemaker solution to generate(PDF’s) and keep track of invoices.

Although I don’t do as much freelance work as I used to, it seems that Blinksale will save me a lot of time and frustration, not to mention making my business look a lot more professional.

Adam Michela Says:

Ahhhhhhh… I’m oozing with envy.

Blinksale is one of the few web-apps announced as of late(besides my own of course ;)) that I’ve really been looking forward too.

I can’t wait to use this tool!

Mary-Ann Horley Says:

Yeah, I’m desperate for them to launch - any idea of pricing?

Mike Rundle Says:

Mary-Ann-

I can’t give too many details out, but I can tell you it’s very affordable and is a tiered pricing plan like Basecamp.

Hope that helps :)

Colin D. Devroe Says:

No more passing napkins!

Josh Williams Says:

Mary-Ann: As Mike said, we’re not letting the pricing out of the bag quite yet. In fact, some of that is still up in the air. However, it will be extremly affordable. We’ve designed Blinksale to be an easy solution for anyone, so the pricing has been tiered with single users (freelancers, contractors, etc.) in mind as well as small businesses.

Mary-Ann Horley Says:

Thanks guys, definitely looks like a good solution for me

Joshua Says:

Wow, that sounds amazing! I have used all programs, from Microsoft Word to Quicken to make invoices. Finally, something web-based, usable and easy!

Daniel Nicolas Says:

I’ve already put money aside for this. It’s gonna be amazing and amazingly easy to get money again while still look like a professional.
